52 Ellen G. White -- Messenger or Medium?
A Change of Plan?
In her book Early Writings, Mrs. White records another vision:
Sorrow filled heaven, as it was realized that man was lost...I saw the lovely Jesus, and
beheld an expression of sympathy and sorrow upon His countenance. Soon I saw Him
approach the exceeding bright light which enshrouded the Father ....Three times He was
shut in by the glorious light about the Father....He THEN made known to the Angelic
host that a way of escape had been made for lost man. He told them He had been
PLEADING with His Father, and had offered to give His life for a ransom, to take the
sentence of death upon Himself, that through Him man might find pardon.
Does this "square" with the Bible? Did YEHOVAH God suddenly realize His plan was
doomed to fail and had to suddenly find a way to RECOUP HIS LOSSES AND COME UP WITH
A NEW PLAN? Did Yeshua PLEAD with His Father to let Him take on the role of a ransom in or-
der to SALVAGE His Father's error in judgment? I think not! Note what the apostle Peter has to
say: "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were
REDEEMED from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the
precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. HE WAS CHOSEN BEFORE THE
CREATION OF THE WORLD, but was revealed in these last times for your sake." Also, Mrs.
White insinuates that the Messiah “pre-existed” in order to be able to “plead” with YEHOVAH
God! Not so -- see our articles on this subject.
In the second chapter of Acts we read: "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth
was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you
through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you BY GOD'S SET
PURPOSE AND FOREKNOWLEDGE; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death
by nailing him to the cross. (Acts 2:22-23)
A former member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in an article entitled Why I Am Not
An Adventist, makes this comment:
The teaching that Christ, the Son, was the originator of the plan of redemption, DENIES
not only the sovereignty and prescience of God the Most High, but it reflects, also, upon
His greatest attribute, which is love. Did Isaac "PLEAD"...to be sacrificed?...a type.
The plan of redemption was not an AFTERTHOUGHT REMEDY for an unforeseen evil,
but part of God's eternal scheme which from Everlasting, is one, in its end and purpose
(Acts 15:18; Eph.1:9-11). And not only was Christ "FOREORDAINED before the foun-
dation of the world" to die as the Redeemer of mankind but God chose "His own" in Christ
BEFORE the foundation of the world.
God planned this in advance -- it was no LAST DITCH EFFORT to save an erring mankind.
God is the MASTER PLANNER!
