COMMENT: Once on the opposite shore of the Red Sea, the Israelites
looked back and saw Pharaoh and his army entering the same path they
had traversed. When all the soldiers were between the towering walls of
water, YEHOVAH God allowed the waters to suddenly collapse upon them,
drowning the Egyptian army.
Crossing the Red Sea to Midian.
The Israelites then proceeded toward Mount Sinai in Midian, where
YEHOVAH God had them set up camp.

COMMENT: YEHOVAH God offered Israel a special relationship with Him-
self. The people wanted to become a "peculiar [not odd, but special] treas-
ure" unto YEHOVAH God. They desired to be a "kingdom of priests" and a
"holy nation." They consented to come under YEHOVAH’s theocratic rule
and thus became YEHOVAH’s chosen people.
Through Moses, YEHOVAH God proposed to the children of Israel a cove-
